Pullicino files law suit over corruption allegations

Environment Minister George Pullicino has instituted libel proceedings against the editor of It-Torċa and former Nationalist Party supporter Joe Said, the Department of Information said yesterday.

The suit was filed over the content of a story published in last Sunday's issue of It-Torċa in which a statement to the police made by Mr Said was quoted.

In the statement, Mr Said alleged that there was corruption in the Nationalist Party.

Mr Pullicino denied the allegation and noted that Mr Said was already being investigated over allegations of blackmail, the DOI said.

Mr Pullicino also wrote to the Police Commissioner requesting him to investigate Mr Said over his "systematic campaign of lies".
