The importance of sports as an integral part of education was underlined by Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi yesterday when he inaugurated new sports facilities at the Santa Klara College girl's lyceum in Pembroke.
Dr Gonzi said it was important that both adults and children include physical activity and sport in their daily life. He pointed out that schools have an important role in the promotion of a culture of sport among students so that they could become more health conscious.
The school is equipped with a 300-metre track, basketball, netball, handball, football and volleyball courts, a multipurpose sports hall, a games room and a gym apart from changing rooms, showers and a tuck shop.
