MMA chairman sues MP for libel
The chairman of the Malta Maritime Authority, Marc Bonello, yesterday filed a libel suit against Labour MP José Herrera.
Mr Bonello claimed that at a political activity on Thursday, Dr Herrera said that Mr Bonello's architectural firm had won two contracts to construct the Gozo ferry terminals in Ċirkewwa and Mġarr and that this was a conflict of interest due to his position.
Mr Bonello felt that these comments were defamatory and were made to damage his reputation.
Lawyer Ivan Gatt signed the suit.
