The Scout Association of Malta has invited former scouts and former leaders within the Scout Movement to take part in this year's Scouts Annual Rally, formerly known as the St Georges Day Parade, marking 100 years of Scouting.
The parade will be held in Valletta on May 4.
The association said the rally will bring back sweet memories to all ex-scouts and confirm the old saying that once a scout always a scout.
Those wishing to attend the rally should send an e-mail, giving information on the years they formed part of the Scouts Movement together with contact information, to the Scouts Association at admscout@bell.net.mt or dagodwin@onvol.net or else send a letter to the Scout Association, Island Headquarters, E.S. Tonna Square, Floriana.
Lord Baden Powel first set up scouting for boys when he took the first group of young lads to Brownsea Island in Poole Harbour, South of England on July 25, 1907. A year later, in 1908, when stationed in Malta, Lord Baden Powell set up his first scout group outside the UK.
In Malta there are now 40 scout groups with over 2,300 members. These consist of beavers, cubs, scouts, ventures and rovers together with their respective leaders.
