An injured loggerhead turtle was brought ashore by the Birdlife yesterday and and handed to Nature Trust for rehabilitation at its centre at San Lucjan.
Nature Trust said that earlier a dead 72cm loggerhead turtle was found floating in the middle of Mellieha Bay and was pulled ashore by the St. Aloysius Scouts Group. The turtle had received a massive injury to its carpace probably form a boat’s propeller. Nature Trust’s Marine Rescue Team went promptly on site where measurements and photos were taken. A MEPA official collected the dead turtle for it to be properly disposed of.
