Recently, the Prime Minister, speaking during a public discussion on TV, said he would carry out a Cabinet reshuffle if his party were returned to power. Funnily enough, the PN supporters present at this gathering, applauded. This constitutes indisputable evidence that even Dr Gonzi himself has lost confidence in his ministers.

The PM's inability to dismiss ministers tainted with scandals, incompetence and irresponsibility, or who are just past their sell-by date, characterise his ineptitude. Attempting to win the electorate's trust through scaremongering tactics has already been tested in the 1996 electoral campaign. Gimmicks, such as placing children on the platform in a mass meeting, will prove futile.

Unfortunately, the PN believes, with a conviction based on experience, that you can fool all people all the time.
