Pierre Bourdieu, social class as a multi-dimensional reality and distinction, and the role of organic intellectuals in the process of social, cultural and economic transformation were the subjects of two seminars recently addressed by Dr Carmel Borg, former dean of the Faculty of Education, and Prof. Peter Mayo in Hamburg, Germany.

The Maltese academics will be returning to Germany to conduct other seminars in Berlin and Essen.

The University of Hamburg's Faculty of Education organised the seminars to help participants to reflect on the role of ideology in reproducing and countering dominant discourses and practices in societies.
