The Palace and The Victoria hotels strengthen management team

Mario de Celis was recently appointed business development director for The Palace and The Victoria hotels. Mr de Celis will also be marketing consultant to the AX Holdings Group.

Mr de Celis has a wealth of experience in the tourism industry, which he acquired from years of employment within the hospitality sector, having worked in leading four- and five-star hotels on the island.

He started his career in the hospitality industry in 1974 at the Verdala Hotel in Rabat after completing his studies at MCAST. His first post was that of a receptionist but through personal initiative and determination was then promoted to front office manager.

He is no newcomer to AX Holdings Group. He was the first general manager at The Victoria hotel and, before that, was director of sales and marketing at the Suncrest, a post which he held for over seven years.

Lorraine Pace was also made secretary to the general manager. Ms Pace has worked with various companies prior to her employment with The Palace and The Victoria.

Claire Xuereb, general manager of The Palace and The Victoria hotels, said: "These appointments are in line with the general vision and philosophy of the organisation. In an effort to create a motivated and energetic team we have paid great attention to select the right candidates and feel that their expertise is a valid asset to our team."
