Private-public partnerships will also be sought to further improve facilities to make Gozo a more attractive tourism destination, building on last year's success when the number of turists in Gozo rose by 17 percent.
Dr Gonzi underscored the emphasis on the environment in Gozo which a new government intends to place and said the government already had a good track record to build on, including the new roads and the new ferry terminal, just inaugurated, and the closure of the waste dump.
Dr Gonzi said the government was working to create new jobs in Gozo, and the recent investment in Gozo by services and financial companies such as HSBC, Datatrak and 6PM showed that its efforts were bearing fruit.
The education sector in Gozo was also being extended, with new schools and new courses, but at the same time Gozitan students studying in Malta had seen their stipends improved
