Obituary

FALZON. On February 21, JOSEPH, of San Ġwann, aged 89, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. His leaves to mourn his loss his wife Stella, his children Colin and his wife Christine, John and his wife Rita, Emily and her husband Mario, Josefa and her husband Jerome, Rose and Paul, Susan and her husband Charles, Manuel and his wife Odette, Julian and his wife Doreen, his sister-in-law and her family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives and friends. R.I.P.
The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 8.30 a.m. for Lourdes parish church in San Ġwann where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9 a.m. followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza will be appreciated. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors.

GRAVINA. On Febuary 21, at Mater Dei Hospital, BEATRICE , known as BICE, aged 80, widow of Alfred, of Valletta, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of the Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Martin and his wife Connie, Carmen and her husband Julius Sciberras, Eileen and her husband Michael Arapa, Dennis and his wife Julie, Stephen and his wife Rita, Monica Pullicino, Simone and her husband Adrian Bonnici, Connie and her husband Silvio Barun, her brothers and sister, grandchildren, other relatives and friends. She leaves to mourn her irreparable loss her sons Andy and Danny and their respective wives Julie and Anna, her daughter Malù and Francis, her daughter-in-law Rose, widow of Brian, her granddaughters Danica and her husband Steve Busuttil, Farida, Alia and her husband Stefan Grech, Ylenia and Desirée, her great-granddaughter Alessia, her in-laws Josephine Bezzina, Oscar and Pat, Terry and her husband Gino Pia, Joe and his wife Grace, Tony and his wife Sue and Sylvia, widow of Hector, her cousins, other relatives, her carers Frida and Edgar, and friends. ST JOHN. On February 21, JOSEPHINE, widow of Joseph, of Paola, aged 99, passed away peacefully at St Vincent de Paul Residence, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Edmond and his wife Joan, Claudette and her husband Alfred Cremona, Gilbert and his wife Marie, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
The funeral leaves St Vincent de Paul Residence tomorrow at 2.15 p.m. for Christ the King parish church, Paola, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.45 p.m. followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza would be appreciated. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors.

Falconry talk and film

Experienced falconer Lawrence Formosa will be presenting a short talk about falconry in between screenings of the film Al Maha, Through The Eyes Of A Falcon at St James Cavalier Centre for Creativity, Valletta, tomorrow and on Sunday at 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 p.m. Admission is free on a first come first served basis.

Mr Formosa will be displaying one of his birds of prey, a hybrid falcon.

Al Maha, Through the Eyes Of A Falcon, showcases an amazing journey of young falcons, including their birth in a falcon breeding centre in Dubai, their preparation and training for return to the wild and finally their release in the wild in Uzbekistan.

The documentary was shot at Al Maha Desert Resort and Spa and the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve (DDCR).

The 30-minute documentary was produced by the German public TV broadcaster Bayerischer Rundfunk.

Weekend at the citadel

Vodafone is inviting those who happen to be in Gozo this weekend to join in the activities being held at the Citadel.

Attractions include re-enactment shows, tours of the Citadel, a wine festival, buffet and children's area.

Activities kick off at 10 a.m., pausing at 1 p.m. and continuing at 5 p.m. until late on Saturday. On Sunday afternoon events start at 2 p.m.

Entrance to the Vodafone weekend is free of charge. There are several prizes to be won, including a mobile phone and other gifts. Draws will take place every hour. To take part in the draws customers need to present their invitation which is being delivered to all Gozitan households. A free invitation can also be collected from Vodafone's retail outlet in Arkadia, Victoria until tomorrow morning.

BJ's marathon to start on Easter Monday

Philip Fenech of BJ's Nightclub in Paceville has started preparing for the 19th edition of the live music marathon at his locale in aid of Wishing Others Week (WOW), the social arm of the Millennium chapel in Paceville.

The marathon will start at 5 p.m. on Easter Monday, March 24, and go on non-stop, day and night, to end a week later.

Mr Fenech said the marathon has a dual purpose. Culturally, it helps to preserve live music as a form of entertainment and socially it will help people who are experiencing problems through its contribution to WOW.

All musicians and singers are invited to give their musical contribution. Mr Fenech said they could register their intentions by phoning or sending an SMS on 9949 3534, calling BJ's on 2137 7642 or going over in person.

Retreat for professionals

The Centre of Ignatian Spirituality will be holding a five-day retreat for men practising a profession. This will be led by Padre Vittorio Liberti SJ, rector of the Pontificio Seminario di Campania, Napoli, and talks will be delivered in Italian. Hospice Figolli
