It is great to see that over 3,000 Maltese citizens living abroad are eligible to vote in the forthcoming elections and that over 1,200 of them have already booked their Air Malta seat.

It is of even greater satisfaction to me that, for the first time in over two decades, the PN and the MLP have not resorted to the undemocratic practice of striking off the electoral register Maltese citizens living abroad.

I am extremely proud that my fight in 2003 is reaping its fruit today. In the court case I had instituted, the Consititutional Court had given the definition of residence as "habitual presence and not physical presence" in Malta.

And, therefore, for the first time, these Maltese and Gozitans living abroad will no longer be harassed by the PN and the MLP.

It is now the duty of the Maltese government, in collaboration with Air Malta and, if necessary, of other airlines, to ensure that all those Maltese living abroad, who are entitled to vote, be ensured a seat on the planes to Malta.
