Going through the letters to the editor these days usually entails having to witness the constant pleas to the electorate by people with obvious Nationalist sympathies. Time and time again, they strive to remind us of the enormous benefits we are all enjoying due to the fortitude, integrity and self sacrifice of the GonziPN cabinet.

Anyone with an iota of intelligence will surely note that these letters are mostly targeted at the disgruntled Nationalist, rather than the selective voter. This obviously coincides with well-known columnists in the English language media who, without hiding their obvious Nationalist allegiances, are striving to attain the same goal. They portray a chilling picture of all that the citizens of this barren rock will have to endure should the Malta Labour Party be entrusted with governing the island.

This all leads me to ask one very simple question: If the Gonzipn government has improved our lifestyle so much, and if the island is the veritable paradise that they portray it to be, why are they so worried that the Nationalist Party keeps regaling us with new, fantastic promises every day?

Why is the current caretaker Prime Minister suggesting there will be new faces in the Cabinet when he so often stated, in the not-too-distant past, that he was more than happy with the team he had assembled?

Why does the not-so-distant possibility of not getting re-elected even cross their minds?
