Sant calls for more IT workers

Urges supporters not to boo rivals

Labour leader Alfred Sant said during meetings in Pieta’, Valletta, Floriana, Marsa and Ħamrun this evening that a Labour government would work to ensure there were enough Maltese IT workers to meet demand.

Dr Sant said Malta did not have enough people trained in information technology and some companies were thinking of importing workers. On SmartCity, he said that although a Labour government would support this project, it did not want a SmartCity in Malta to create jobs for foreigners. Primarily, it should create jobs for the Maltese.

In a clear reference to the debate at University on Monday Dr Sant told his supporters to work to get votes for the party but to respect everyone since everyone had a right to his opinion. “Do not boo those who do not agree with us. That is what is done by the ħamalli,” he said to applause.
