Malta Journalism Review launched

Tumas Fenech Foundation for Education in Journalism celebrated its eighth anniversary at the Portomaso Suite of the Malta Hilton during which the second volume of the Malta Journalism Review was launched.

President Emeritus Ugo Mifsud Bonnici, chairman of the foundation, chaired a round table that discussed the work of the foundation and the review.

Certificates were distributed to a number of police officers who attended a course offered by the foundation.

Lawrence Grech, former editor of The Sunday Times, delivered a keynote speech on the development of the English-speaking press in Malta while Mario Schiavone, administrator of the foundation, gave a round-up of the activities held by the foundation in the last year. He said that more than 220 persons attended courses organised by the foundation since its inception.

The Ġukulari Ensemble provided a musical interlude during the evening.

George Fenech, chairman of the Tumas Group, sponsors of the foundation, was the main guest of the evening. The audience included Gemma Mifsud Bonnici, Nick Archer, British High Commissioner to Malta, trustees of the foundation, journalists, police officers and other guests.
