March 5 European Parliament conference: People and Parliament in the European Union in the context of the 2009 elections
The conference will address the issue of public opinion towards the European Parliament in the context of preparations for the 2009 European elections. The conference will present the results of an ongoing major research project on European citizens and democratic participation.
March 10 European and Asian integration: Achievements and challenges
Jointly organised by DG ECFIN and the Asian Development Bank, this conference will compare progress in financial and monetary integration in Asia and Europe over the past two decades. It will include sessions on economic integration and regional financial stability. Event will be held in Brussels.
March 11-14 Institutional capacities and learning for sustainable development
This event, organised by the research institute for managing sustainability at the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration, will focus on the institutional aspects of sustainable development evaluations as policy learning processes. It will also explore how different evaluation tools and approaches contribute to knowledge-based governance for sustainable development.
March 13-14 Comprehensive environmental protection - the European model of agriculture
The Committee of Professional Agricultural Organisations in the European Union (COPA) and General Confederation of Agricultural Cooperatives in the European Union (COGECA) are organising this seminar to look in detail at what is being done under the reformed common agricultural policy to meet the objectives of environmental protection. The ninth workshop of the Euro Area Business Cycle network (EABCN), hosted by the University of Cambridge, will discuss methodological issues such as the aggregation of data from across the eurozone and the use of real-time data and the impacts these can have on economic analysis.
April 24-25 Conference: A strategic vision for statistics: challenges for the next years
This fourth ECB conference on statistics will consider the role of statistics in monetary and other economic policy-making, the future directions for collecting and compiling statistical data, and future avenues for cooperation in the field between the ECB and the European Commission.
