St Paul's Bay shop damaged by fire

A souvenir shop in Triq It-Trunċiera, St Paul's Bay was considerably damaged in a fire that broke out early yesterday morning.

The police said that police patrolling the area at about 4.30 a.m. noticed smoke coming out of the front door, where a glass pane was broken.

The police tried to extinguish the blaze using a fire extinguisher but fire fighters from the Civil Protection Department had to be called in since the fire had spread inside the shop.

Employees from Enemalta Corporation later removed any danger posed by burnt electricity wires.

No one was injured as a result of the blaze.

The police are investigating the cause of the fire.
