A new HSBC branch was opened this morning in Attard by Parliamentary Secretary Tonio Fenech.

Mr Fenech praised HSBC for its “ongoing commitment to the development and upgrading of Malta’s financial services sector”

He said that while the new branch would provide the full range of banking services to Attard residents, it was also a . testament to the wise policy decision taken by Government to attract HSBC, one of the world’s most reputable financial services organisations, to Malta.

He said that Malta today had a dynamic and well functioning financial services sector which directly and indirectly accounted for some 12% of its GDP and employed over 6,000 people.

“It is our vision to see this sector grow even further and by 2015 have it contribute as much as 25% to our GDP” Mr Fenech said.
