Mgr Philip Calleja, director of the Emigrants’ Commission, expressed shock and regret this afternoon over an Azzjoni Nazzjonali billboard put up in Balzan Square.

The billboard shows a picture of AN deputy leader Anglu Xuereb and promises that the Balzan open centre for migrants will be closed. The centre is housed in a Church Home.

“I am surprised and sorry to see such things happen in Malta and I cannot see how the police have allowed it, this is abuse of freedom” Mgr Calleja said.

“How would you feel if somebody told you he wants to close down your home,” Mgr Calleja asked.

He said the viewed this billboard as harmful to AN itself.

A number of people had already complained about the billboard, Mgr Calleja said.
