Political truth
Carmel Vella Clark (February 11) should rest assured that all Maltese citizens know that Malta Labour Party leader Alfred Sant always tells the truth. They also know that Nationalist Party leader Lawrence Gonzi cannot be trusted. A case in point concerns Labour's education proposal about the introduction of a much-needed "reception class" for the benefit of all Maltese children. The PN is calling it a "repeaters' class" when this is blatantly not the case.
As an educator, I am appalled at the depths to which Dr Gonzi and his team will descend for the purpose of partisan political advantage.

When Desmond Zammit Marmara writes one often wonders whether to take him seriously or not.
For several months he has been strenuously defending Dr. Sant and claims that "he always tells the truth".
Since this is no humorous statement, I am truly worried about Desmond himself.
He either does not make a distinction between truth and spins or he is so brainwashed that he is only able to see things the MLP's way to the exclusion of anything else.
Mr. Zammit Marmara "is appalled at the depths to which Dr. Gonzi and his team will descend..." To which, may I remark that Dr. Gonzi has a long way to descend to Dr. Sant's level the latter having hit rock bottom.
The problem with the MLP is its leader, who is either being constantly fed with wrong advice by his closely knit team and takes it, or, if they give him good advice he stubbornly refuses to see the light.
And that's the truth.
