Obituary

BORG. On February 10, at Mater Dei Hospital, JOSEPH (known as Joe il-Morin), proprietor of Morin Coaches Company Ltd, of Qormi, aged 67, widower of Maria Borg, née Mizzi, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his children Josephine and her husband Mark, Jennifer and her husband Edwin, Charlotte and her husband Robert, his grandchildren Elena, Daniel, Maria Kristina, Rachel and Jean-Luc, his brothers and sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends.
The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 1.45 p.m. for St Sebastian parish church, Qormi, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m., followed by interment in the family grave at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors.
May God grant him eternal rest.

GANADO. On February 10, at Casa Arkati Mosta, LENA, of Sliema, aged 98, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her sister Rita and her husband Admiral William O'Brien, her nieces Clare and Angela Jackson and Louise Halliman, other nieces and nephews, her stepdaugher Mary and her husband Carmel Gatt, their children Jessica and her husband Roberto, John and his wife Daphne, other relatives and friends. R.I.P.
Mass praesente cadavere will be said today at 2.30 p.m. at the Casa Arkati chapel followed by interment in the family grave at the Santa Maria Addolorata cemetery.

MALLIA. On February 11, at Mater Dei Hospital, HARRY E. of Sliema, aged 89, widower of Marie, née Debono, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his only son John and his wife Liz, née Soler, his grandson Michael, his sister Anne Rossi, his in-laws, nephews, nieces and friends.
Mass praesente cadavere will be said tomorrow at 8.45 a.m. at St Gregory's parish church, Sliema, followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated.

MUSCAT. On February 11, at St James Capua Hospital, Sliema, MARIE-LOUISE, née Micallef, widow of Joseph, aged 68, passed away peacefully after a short illness, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her son Simon and his wife Marthese, her daughter Angie and her husband Nicholas, her beloved grandsons Malcolm and Jean Paul, her brothers Anton and John, her sister Josianne, their respective spouses, her nephews and nieces, aunt and uncles, cousins, relatives and friends.
The funeral leaves St James Capua Hospital tomorrow at 3 p.m. for Our Saviour parish church, Lija, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 3.30 p.m. followed by interment at Lija cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be appreciated.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at St James Capua for their specialised care and kindness.

On February 11, the 150th anniversary of the first apparition of Our Lady of Lourdes, at Mater Dei Hospital, ADELINA, née Farrugia, of St Julians, aged 81, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. Dedicated wife of Vincent and beloved mother to her children, Edwin and his wife Mary, Jeffrey and his wife Irene, Fr Denis Schembri, parish priest of St Ermenegildo, Turin, Italy, Glorianne and her husband Alex Flores and Yvonne Mary, loving grandmother of Denise, Maronia, Brian and Claire, Keith, Nadine, Ann-Marie, Carl and Christopher, her sisters Maria and Yvonne and her husband Peter Elbourne, her in-laws, their respective families, other relatives and friends.
The funeral leaves the hospital today at 2 p.m. for St Julians parish church where Mass praesente cadavere will be celebrated at 2.30 p.m., followed by interment in the family vault at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors.

Prayers, nenten talks

MIR will be holding its next prayer meeting for families on February 21 at the Holy Trinity parish church, Marsa, between 7 p.m. and 9.45 p.m. Those attending are requested to take food for Fondazzjoni Suret Il-Bniedem, the Franciscan Capuchin Foundation caring for the homeless.

Lenten talks led by Fr Hayden Williams will take place between March 3 and 7 at the Franciscan Capuchin church, Floriana from 6 to 8.30 p.m.

English courses

The Royal British Legion (Malta Branch) will run the final series of English language courses for students in Year 4 to 6 and Forms I and II on Saturday mornings and for Forms III to V (O Level) on Wednesday afternoons at 5.15 p.m. in anticipation of the final exams.

The sessions are held at 111, Melita Street, Valetta.

Identical courses are also held in Gozo on Monday afternoons at the Ninu Cremona Junior Lyceum.

Cultural outing to Rabat

The St Paul's Bay local council will hold a cultural outing on Friday at 1 p.m. to Rabat (Malta) visiting St Agatha's Crypt and Museum as well as St Paul's Catacombs.

The price of €7.40 (Lm3.18) for residents and €8.34 (Lm3.58) for non residents including entry tickets, transport and coffee.

Standards conference

The secretary general of the International Standards Organisation - ISO, Alan Bryden, was recently in Malta as a guest of the Malta Standards Authority (MSA).

Mr Bryden was the main speaker at the conference organised by MSA to commemorate its 10th anniversary.

Way of The Cross

The Pastoral Parochial Committee of Santa Venera will hold The Way Of The Cross in Romeo Romano Gardens on Friday. Mass will be celebrated at 6 p.m. at the old Sta Venera church. The procession will then leave the church.

100th birthday

President Eddie Fenech Adami and his wife Mary yesterday attended Mass on the occasion of the 100th birthday of Paula Stafrace at the Sa' Maison Retirement Home in Pietà.

Philately meeting

The Bank of Valletta Philately Club will hold a meeting at the Fatima Sanctuary convent in Guardamangia, near the parish priest's office, today at 6 p.m. Stamp collectors are invited to attend. For enquiries call 7931 5509.

Play

The San Ġineżju Company will present the play L-Għasfur Li Ma Għanniex Iżjed on February 16 at 7.30 p.m. and February 17 at 6.30 p.m. at the Mgr Ġużeppi De Piro hall, San Domenico Savio Oratory in Birkirkara. For bookings call 2144 1917.

Domus Pauli open to public

The Domus Pauli - an extension of the chapter hall of the collegiate church of St Paul Shipwrecked, Valletta - will be open to the public on the occasion of the saint's feast. The centre at 263, St Paul Street, Valletta will be open on Friday from 6 to 9.30 p.m. and on Saturday from 5 to 9 p.m.

It houses artifacts connected with St Paul's Shipwrecked church, such as models, paintings, drawings, photographs and sacred vestments.

One-way traffic in San Ġwann/Swieqi

Traffic along Triq ta' l-Ibraġ in the San Ġwann/Swieqi area will be one-way, from Swieqi to San Ġwann, except for the first part of the road from San Ġwann, near Mekek Bar from 5 a.m. till 1 p.m. The road will return to two-way traffic from 1 p.m. to 5 a.m. These arrangements will be in place from tomorrow until the completion of Manwel Dimech Bridge.

Prayers for peace

The International Movement of Prayer Blessed Pope John XXIII will hold its evening prayer for peace and new evangelisation of the world at the chapel of Sarria church, Floriana tomorrow from 6 to 7 p.m.

Sacred music

Giuseppe Fenech's Missa Sancte Joseph will be performed at St John's Co-Cathedral in Valletta on Friday on the occasion of its composer's 90th birthday. The performance starts at 7 p.m.

Kinnie website

Kinnie has revamped its website www.kinnie.com to bring it in line with the brand's new look and packaging. The website features several black and white adverts from its launch in 1952 to the 1970s, as well as the latest advertising campaigns. The packaging development from 1952 to today is also recorded on the website.
