Guided nature walks are being organised at the Majjistral Nature and History Park, which extends from Ir-Ramla tal-Mixquqa (Golden Bay) to Il-Prajjet (Anchor Bay).
The walks are aimed at enabling the public to learn more about Maltese flora and enjoy spectacular countryside walks. They take place on Sundays or other days on request.
The walk is six kilometres long and takes approximately two and a half hours to complete.
For now they are being offered free of charge as part of the management's commitment to boost awareness and increase enjoyment of heritage, while also promoting some healthy exercise in the fresh air.
The northwest park is jointly managed by three NGOs - Din l-Art Ħelwa, the Gaia Foundation and Nature Trust. The walks, led by a qualified and experienced guide, begin at 10 a.m. near the Golden Bay bus stop, ending at the same place at around 12.30 p.m.
Bookings can be made by e-mail on walks@majjistral.org.
The terrain consists mostly of rocky paths beside the cliffs and dirt tracks and, therefore, suitable walking shoes are essential.
