The GWU said today it was appealing for outstanding issues involving government workers to be settled.
“The GWU hopes that the government will not use these workers to create industrial unrest on the eve of a general election in order to gain political mileage,” the union said in a statement.
The union said the pending issues included premiums for nursing aides, health assistants, care workers and assistant care workers. The union is insisting that the premium for these workers should match that of other workers.
The union said that at Enemalta, talks on the financial package forming part of the collective agreement were still outstanding while talks on a collective agreement at Air Malta still had to be finalised.
These issues affect 3,000 workers, the GWU said.
