With every election state schools are being highly inconvenienced, to say the least. During the week prior the election date, the already limited classroom space is taken by the voting cubicles. Classrooms are stripped bare of all educational material and children's work. All classroom windows are covered up with brown paper.

And for all this the Electoral Commission doesn't pay the school anything. It doesn't even send a letter of thanks.

When one considers that from their limited budget schools pay for books, milk and stationery, isn't it high time that the commission pays for service rendered?
