I personally know the family and the anguish they went through during these past months. My heart goes out to them and to poor Chloe, who I must say is a brave little dog surrounded by lots of love and affection.
It is a shame that the law had the chance to deter one of the road hogs roaming about in Malta and at least make him pay for the medical expenses incurred by Ms Calascione. But nothing was done.
Further so, nothing has been done to-date by the local council. Following this terrible incident, the residents of this road, which is a cul-de-sac, forwarded a letter by hand to the council in which we requested a sleeping policeman at the beginning of Triq ir-Rand.
Every Sunday afternoon this quiet road is besieged by Sunday drivers who, trying to avoid the traffic jam in Triq Ħal-Warda, enter our road engines revving, thinking that they can exit through Triq ir-Rand. They find that it is a cul-de-sac and reverse to rush out again. That's how Chloe's accident happened.
God forbid, but does the accident have to involve a child to have something done? Action please before it's too late.
