Last weekend was a rewarding one for the La Salle clan. After recording a comfortable win over D6 Seabank LC, La Salle were present for Aloysians' defeat at the hands of Kavallieri.
Aloysians have now fallen six points adrift of La Salle while Kavallieri Shireburn are the sole occupants of second place, three points less than the leaders.
The early exchanges of the game between La Salle and D6 Seabank were balanced but both teams spurned some clear chances.
Thereafter, La Salle began to impose themselves on the game with Andrew Said and Chris Magro combining well on the left. In the second half, it was a no contest as La Salle won the game 32-10.
La Salle's positive results of late are a tribute to the sterling work being done by coach Alan Grima in the club's youth sector.
Kavallieri and Aloysians were on a par in the initial stages, the score tied on 9-9 after 30 minutes.
Many expected Kavallieri's performance to dip but after another good quarter, Aloysians, who were without two key players last weekend, began to rush and lost concentration.
Showing excellent teamwork and commitment, Kavallieri profited from their opponents' difficulties as they slowly but surely moved clear of Aloysians on their way to a 20-16 win.
