Poor marks

I was dreaming of encountering aliens who were totally opposed to further education. They argued, why should our children suffer an additional year in school, whatever it is called - reception or otherwise?

Why should we promote further or adult education for that matter? Why all this suffering and loss of time? In fact why should we invest in education at all? I was relieved when I woke up and found myself back in the Maltese environment - happily languishing at the bottom end of all Eurostat league tables, including indicators related to education.
