Addressing hundreds of flag-waving supporters who crowded MLP headquarters and the street outside, Dr Sant said that now, when Labour was asked how it would fund the reduction in the water and electricity surcharge, it would reply that it would use the money Dr Gonzi was saying he would use to cut taxes.
Dr Sant said reducing the surcharge would boost the economy. Labour would aim for economic growth of four to six percent and it too would then cut taxes.
The Labour leader urged his supporters not to believe what the PN was coming up with now, saying the Gonzi government was tired and rudder-less.
He insisted that Labour would bring about better living conditions for all sectors of society and promote a caring society.
Labour he said, would create jobs and remove income tax on overtime, and, he insisted in reply to Dr Gonzi's comments, overtime would continue to be paid at current rates.
