A taste of Paris
A cabaret show - A Night in Paris - by a group of Russian dancers, including some who worked at the Lido and the Moulin Rouge, promises to "transport" audiences to the French capital.
The 14 dancers from St Petersburg, who go by the name of the Bize Lizu, will bring with them 860 kilogrammes of costumes, each encrusted in Swarowski crystals.
In fact, the show is expected to be full of glitz and glamour and should not only appeal to the local dance community, the organisers said.
The classically-trained dancers have been touring the world and have performed for the likes of the Russian and US heads of state.
Malta is next on their schedule: They will be performing at the Manoel Theatre in Valletta on February 12 and at the Excelsior Grand Hotel on February 16, with the possibility of another show the day before.
The organisers said the hotel show, for which a stage is being purposely built, will be during a three-course dinner, with cabaret seating, meaning that only part of the round tables would be used so that everyone could see the show.
The Versatile Brass Band will also be in attendance throughout the evening.
A Night in Paris is being held under the patronage of the Tourism Ministry and the dancers are being sponsored by the Malta Tourism Authority.
Tickets are available from the Manoel Theatre booking office, by calling Kurt G. Pace on 7979 1223 or the Excelsior Grand Hotel on 2125 0520.
