An assiduous observer of Maltese politics, I was struck by the opening of Alex Saliba's letter (January 30) relating to the curse of Tutankhamun. In fact there was no pyramid, let alone a famous one, and the curse itself is dubious. Of the 22 present at the opening of the tomb in 1922 only six had died by 1934.

Surely Maltese politics are beset by sufficient myth, fable and legend without introducing those relating to ancient Egypt dreamed up by the British sensational press of the period.
