Kintaro marks debut with victory in Gold 2
The Marsa racetrack yesterday hosted the fourth meeting of the season which consisted of trotting races on the 2,140 metres distance.
The main events of the day came from the Gold Division with races from the Silver and Bronze categories completing the programme.
The Gold 2 race produced a duel in the final straight between nine-year-old Swedish trotter Kintaro and Hello Classique with the former taking the honours in his first appearance in Malta.
Faverol looked set to win the Gold 3 until it was overtaken in the final metres by another newcomer to Maltese trotting, BBS Balthazar, directed by Carmelo Farrugia.
Mark Mifsud managed to get the best out of Gin T. Dalimo midway through the last 150 metres to win Gold 5.
Kevin Sciberras recorded a comfortable victory in Silver 1 with Super Swede while Indy Du Jonc, driven by Toni Tanti, produced a strong final dash to come out on top in Silver 3.
Claudio Refalo's BWT Mensroom registered its second successive win when topping Silver 4. Brian Zammit's G. Force Son took first place in Silver 5.
The only bronze race of the day was won by Jan Emil, driven by Julian Farrugia, with a comfortable three-length margin.
