The call of MV Deira on January 25 marks the commencement of regular scheduled calls by UASC at Malta Freeport. UASC will call at Malta Freeport every week with two services interconnecting with each other.
The AEC service has vessels operating from the Far East proceeding to the Middle East, then making their way through the Suez Canal, on to Malta Freeport and afterwards to north Europe.
The MIX service connects the US East Coast and West Mediterranean destinations.
Through these, Malta Freeport has further increased its already extensive network of direct ports which are connected to Malta on a weekly basis. Local importers and exporters can now benefit from 121 port connections worldwide through the services calling at Malta Freeport.
UASC was established in 1976 jointly between the shareholding states from the Arabian Gulf (Bahrain, Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and UAE). UASC presently ranks in the 22nd worldwide and has a vessel fleet of 33 ships.
