Visitors to the Digital Arts Expo 2008 in July will be able to enjoy a selection of short films, presented by Kinemastik.

A seminar organised by Media Desk Malta at the expo will inform professionals working in the audiovisual industry about funding, training and networking opportunities under the EU Media Programme.

"Visitors will be able to see the many ways through which creative artists from all over the world use digital art technology to bring their cinematic vision to life," Slavko Vukanovic, a Kinemastik member, explained.

At the expo, numerous companies and organisers will be exhibiting their products and services - all tied to the basic theme of digital creativity. From audio to graphic design, animation to print, the event aims to bring its visitors a taste of the full power of digital technology. Many of the top suppliers in Malta will be present, demonstrating their products and services to potential clients.

For the first time in Malta, the focus of the event is not the technology, but what can be done with it. This is where Kinemastik's selection from around the world fits in. It is the best way to actually show the value of technology, when put to good use.

Sticking with this theme, the Digital Arts Expo 2008 will include a series of seminars, lectures and workshops led by top international experts in their fields alongside the best Malta has to offer. Whether it is the latest developments in print technology or the hottest tips for smooth, effective animation, there will be an expert to share his deep knowledge and extensive experience in the field with DA visitors.

Attendance will be free of charge only for registered members. Organisers ICA recommend early registration. Visit www.digitalarts-expo.com to register and receive your free entry ticket.

Kinemastik, an NGO working in fringe film and theatre in Malta and across Europe, was formed in early 2005. It collaborates with international film festivals and film-makers, providing Maltese audiences with a diverse range of films that would otherwise never make it to local screens, while seeking to put young Maltese film-makers in touch with the broader international cinema world.

Through Kinemastik, local talent can have their short films screened in Malta, and can also enjoy worldwide distribution. They have already participated in some of Malta's most high-profile events in their short history. For more information visit www.kinemastik.org.

Media Desk Malta will also be participating in the Digital Arts Expo. Media is a support programme of the European Union to strengthen the competitiveness of the European film, TV and new media industries, and to increase the international circulation of European audiovisual works. Support is available for production companies, distributors, festival organisers, training providers and exhibitors.

Media Desk Malta ( www.media.org.mt ) promotes the MEDIA programme and assists individuals who wish to benefit from this programme. The desk is hosted and supported by the Ministry for Tourism and Culture.
