Obituary

ATTARD. On February 1, LYDIA née Cardona, aged 90, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband John, her children Marion and Valerie, wife of Alfred Mangion, her grandchildren Daniela and Francesca, in-laws, nephews and nieces, other relatives, among whom Doris Cutajar, and friends.
Mass praesente cadavere will be said on Monday, February 4, at 8.30 a.m. at Christ the King parish church, Paola, followed by interment at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Żebbuġ. No flowers by request but donations to the Ursuline Sisters at Żabbar will be appreciated.
Lord grant her eternal rest.

GERADA. On January 30, JOSEPH M. of Tarxien, aged 61, ex-president of UĦM and member of MAAA, passed away peacefully at Mater Dei Hospital. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Therese, née Cilia, his daughter Lara and her husband Mark Gatt, his son Arthur and his fiancée Elaine Gatt, his sisters-in-law Maria C., Mary and her husband Joe Micallef, Josephine and Antida, his brothers-in-law Frank and his wife Dorothy, Mgr. Renzo Cilia of Rome, and Teddy and his wife Carmen, as well as many nephews, nieces and numerous friends. R.I.P.
The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 8 a.m. for Fgura parish church where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.30 a.m., followed by interment in the family grave at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery.

MALLIA. On February 1, at Mater Dei Hospital, ETHEL of Msida, aged 73, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her sister Edwidge, her brothers Edwin and his wife Jean, Walter and his wife Doris, Edmond and his wife Anna and Albert and his wife Maria, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 7.30 a.m. for Msida parish church where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8 a.m., followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated.

PORTELLI. On January 31, at Mater Dei Hospital, Major BERTIE PORTELLI, RMA, rtd. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Celia, née Apap, his children Stephanie, wife of Craig, and Albert, his grandchildren Bettina and her husband Eman, Justin, Luana, Lee, Zak, Nicholas, Ella, Lea and Naia, his brother Victor and his wife May and all other in-laws, relatives and friends. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Antoinette, his daughters Mariella and her husband Anand Dayal and Candida and her husband Anton Azzopardi Giappone, his sons John and his wife Nadya, Tonio and his wife Doris, Andre and his wife Nadia and Nicky, his grandchildren Martin, Noella, Francesca, Michael, Adele, John, Michelle, Angele and Christopher, his brothers, sisters, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends.
The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 7.45 a.m. for St Gregory the Great parish church, Sliema, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.45 a.m., followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Salesian Missions will be appreciated.

Requiem Masses

Today being the trigesima die of the demise of Dr ROBERT NAUDI, MD, of Msida, Masses said at 5.15 p.m. at St Joseph parish church, Msida, and at 6.45 p.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel church, Paceville, will both be offered for the repose of his soul. The attendance and participation of his relatives and friends is very much appreciated.

Carnival In St Paul's Bay

There will be carnival events in St Paul's Bay over the weekend, organised by the area's Bars and Restaurants Association in collaboration with the Malta Tourism Authority and the St Paul's Bay local council. Today a défilé starts at 4 p.m.
