A self-proclaimed Nationalist Party supporter who has been levelling accusations at the government over various issues in recent weeks yesterday filed a judicial protest in court claiming that comments passed by BondiPlus presenter Lou Bondì earlier this week were false and were only aimed at tarnishing his reputation.

Jo Said filed the judicial protest against Mr Bondì as well as Public Broadcasting Services chairman Joe Fenech Conti and chief executive Albert Debono.

Mr Said also sent a reply to the allegations made about him to the PBS editor and the acting chairman of the Editorial Board, asking the station to air his comments in terms of the Press Act.

In his judicial protest, Mr Said said that Mr Bondì's comments about him were false and defamatory and were aimed at tarnishing his reputation and undermining his credibility. He said Mr Bondì gave the impression that he was vociferous in his criticism of the government because he wanted a post in a public entity but this was not given to him.

He said that after participating in a public discussion on a private television station he was pressured not to voice publicly matters that are of national interest. He said he felt there is a "systematic campaign" against him not to speak publicly.

Mr Said also said that people about whom he commented had threatened to take legal action against him but, so far, have not filed anything in court. He was looking forward to a court case where he can repeat and substantiate everything he said.

Mr Said also complained about what he described as a "whispering campaign" that had been launched against him to attack his credibility. On Monday, Mr Bondì mentioned his name on the programme BondiPlus and made false allegations about him without even contacting him for his version.

He called on Mr Bondì to retract the allegations he made about him within four days and warned that he was holding him responsible for damages he sustained.

Lawyer Joe Mifsud signed the protest.
