'Loss' to health and safety efforts

The General Workers Union's Turu Micallef Institute for Health and Safety has expressed its sorrow at the death of Joe M. Gerada, ex-president of the Union Ħaddiema Magħqudin, who died on Wednesday.

A former member of the Commission for the Promotion of Health and Safety at Work and of the Occupational Health and Safety Authority, Mr Gerada had contributed to increased health and safety at work and was committed to making work places safer, it said.

It described his death as a loss to efforts in this direction.

The institute also expressed solidarity with Mr Gerada's family.
