Volkswagen has unveiled its new compact 4x4 SUV, the Tiguan.
It is the first SUV in the world to be offered with charged engines, which means more power, less fuel consumption and lower emissions.
Speaking at the VW Tiguan launch, Maurice Mizzi, chairman of Mizzi Group, said that "after four years of developing the Volkswagen Touareg as only Volkswagen and Porsche know how to do, the company, with Porsche's help, felt ready to launch yet another benchmark in the SUV field".
Available in two different body versions, one for normal driving and the other for rough terrain, Mr Mizzi said he was "greatly impressed with the Tiguan's performance and comfort".
The new Tiguan's "face" and side profile are immediately recognisable as those of a Volkswagen, and yet they are different from all existing models in the range, he said.
Maintaining the "baby Touareg" appearance, the new Tiguan has several innovative features, including an automatic park assist: It automatically steers itself into a suitable space from the parallel-park position.
The new Tiguan is available from the Volkswagen showroom in Princess Margaret Street, Msida.
