The Globalair Winter League continued last weekend with the match between Marsa and Krishna.

Marsa won the toss and elected to bowl first. Krishna, missing regular batsman Nowell Khosla, opened with Mark G. Sacco and Sam Dhandapani. Things did not look bright for the team as both were out in the second over.

Dhandapani tested Mike Caruana in a quick single and was run out with a direct hit. Sacco was bowled two balls later, both openers having made a mere three runs each.

On a day where runs were hard to come by due to a soggy ground, the batsmen struggled. Faraaz was Krishna's top scorer making 18 runs.

Chris Naudi scored 11 from ten balls, before being caught, while Pierre Naudi and Samuel Aquilina both scored seven runs each. Krishna totalled 63 runs. For Marsa, Martin Llewlyn took two wickets.

In reply, Marsa had a flying start of 18 runs from the first three overs with Mike Caruana scoring 12 from ten balls before being caught.

Then, a succession of three quick wickets had the Marsa team struggling. Ronnie Sacco and John Grima had other ideas though, both making the runs required for the team to win this match and stay top of the standings with 32 points.

Krishna, on 21 points, will have to win their remaining two games to keep their chances of winning the title.

Next Saturday, Krishna play bottom-placed Melita at 1 p.m.

Nursery activities on Saturday will be from 9.30 to 11.30 a.m.
