Obituary

BRUNO. On January 29, at Mater Dei Hospital, MOLLY, née Cortis, aged 82, went to meet the Risen Lord, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her beloved and devoted children, Vanni and Colette, Anna and her husband Mario Spiteri Maempel, Sandro and his wife Loraine, Vittorio and his wife Sonia, Antonella, widow of Franco, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her brother Tonio and his wife Tonia, her sister Therese and her husband Henry Marengo, her brother-in-law Gaetano Farrugia, her in-laws Tonella Darmanin and Tancred Fleri Soler, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends.
The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 1.30 p.m. for Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish church, Balluta, St Julians, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2 p.m., followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery.
Lord, grant her eternal rest.

DIMECH. On January 29, at Sir Paul Boffa Hospital, JOE of Paola, aged 69, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Rose, his son Bernie and his wife Charmaine, his sister Marianne, his in-laws and their families, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends.
The funeral leaves Sir Paul Boffa Hospital today at 2.15 p.m. for Christ the King parish church, Paola, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.45 p.m, followed by interment in the family grave at Tarxien cemetery (Ta' l-Erwie). No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siiewi, will be greatly appreciated.
Lord, grant him eternal rest.

MICALLEF. On January 29, at Karin Grech Hospital, ANTHONY, aged 87, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his great loss his children Carmen and her husband Joseph Azzopardi, Mary and her husband Saviour Azzopardi, residing in England, Margaret and her husband Lino Attard, Michael and his wife Phyllis, née Magrin, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. - R.I.P.

SPITERI DEBONO RONALD. Sadly passed away on January 29. His beloved family - his three daughters Bernadette, Josette and Deborah, son-in-law Phillip and grandchildren Giancarlo, Tiziana, Arabella, Christiana and Adriana - mourn his sad loss.
Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later stage.

STAGNO. On January 28, ROSINA, née Gatt, of Msida, aged 93, widow of Giovanni, went to meet the Risen Lord, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her beloved children Twanny and his wife Antoinette, Marianne and her husband Alfred Cocks, Ronald and his wife Mary, Maria and her husband Joseph Spiteri, her 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
The funeral leaves St Vincent de Paul residence today at 7.30 a.m. for Msida parish church where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8 a.m., followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Special thanks to all the staff and doctors of RB2 at St Vincent de Paul.

Works On Naxxar Road

Patching works will be carried out along Naxxar Road, Birkirkara tomorrow and on Friday between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. The north-bound carriageway on the way to Lija, from the corner with Valley Road, will be closed to traffic. Traffic heading to Lija will be diverted to Valley Road, High Street and to Valley Road, Balzan. The south-bound carriageway towards Valley Road will not be affected. Motorists are advised to proceed with caution.

Cat Show

The Malta Feline Fanciers cat club will be holding its 11th International FIFE Championship cat show and exhibition on Sunday at The New Dolmen Resort Hotel in Buibba. Lectures On French History

Alain Blondy, professor of history at the Université de Paris-Sorbonne, will be giving a series of lectures in French at the University of Malta entitled Histoire De La France between February 4 and March 5.

The lectures will be held on three days a week: Mondays from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Old Humanities Building, Room 112; Tuesdays from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Mediterranean Institute, Room 127; and Wednesdays from 4 to 6 p.m. again in the Old Humanities Building, Room 112. The public is invited to attend.

Ramblers AGM

The Ramblers Association of Malta will be holding its annual general meeting at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Din l-Art elwa, 133, Melita Street, Valletta. An election for committee members will be held.

PES '08 tournament

A one-day tournament of the Playstation PES '08 will be held at the Annunciation Band Club Hall in Tarxien on February 16. Those interested in participating should contact Darren Zammit on 7948 5823. Participation costs €5 (Lm2.15).

Seminar

A half-day seminar will be held on the occasion of the closure of the Inclusive ICT Training And Development Programme held at Razzett tal-biberija, Marsascala and co-financed by the European Union. The seminar will take place on Friday, between 8.30 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Portomaso Suite at the Hilton Hotel, St Julians. Carnival Fun At Bay Street

The Bay Street Complex is planning a weekend of colour and music during carnival week.

The fun kicks off at 5 p.m. on Friday with this year's Company B in the national carnival, the Look Star Dancers.

On Saturday the entertainment will be provided by the Dance College Studio Company.

On Sunday the fun and games are spread across the whole of the afternoon and evening, starting at 3.30 p.m. with the Wild Strength Dancers. These will be followed by the CCK Dancers, the Corinne Turner troupe, Carnival Creations and the Adrian Ficallo Company which is also participating in the national Carnival. The evening comes to a colourful end with Charles Briffa and the Carlo Olivari Carnival Dance Company.

On Monday and Tuesday children and adults are invited to don their costumes and visit the complex where a number of spot prizes will be awarded to those with costumes which stand out in the crowd.
