Two new services calling at Freeport

The United Arab Shipping Company (UASC) last week started using the Malta Freeport with two mainline services.

The two services - AEC and MIX - will call every week, interconnecting with each other.

The AEC service has vessels operating from the Far East proceeding to the Middle East then making their way through the Suez Canal, on to Malta Freeport and afterwards to North Europe.

The MIX service connects the East Coast of the United States of America to Malta and West Mediterranean destinations.

Malta Freeport said that through the new services it has further increased its already extensive network of direct ports which are connected to Malta on a weekly basis.

Local importers and exporters can now benefit from 121 port connections worldwide through the services calling at Malta Freeport, it added.

UASC was established in 1976 jointly between the shareholding states from the Arabian Gulf (Bahrain, Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and UAE). It currently ranks in the 22nd position worldwide and has a vessel fleet of 33 ships.
