It is three weeks since I have been unable to live in my own house. Three weeks and nothing has been done yet. I have been deprived access to my own property.

While legal wrangling on the collapse of Triq il-Pont in Santa Maria Estate unfold, I am faced with the disastrous situation of an imminent further collapse. Cracks have appeared barely a foot away from my house. It is about time somebody put his act together. It is imperative that the road is repaired immediately to avert the danger that looms.

It is perfectly obvious what the reason for this disaster is. Too much excavation took place on a plot there without shoring up the side of the road to prevent any collapse, not to mention the heavy trucks parked on the edge of this road to collect debris.

What are the authorities doing about it? Are they so locked up in legal matters that they have shelved their responsibilities, their priorities?

Will somebody please wake up to avert a greater disaster?
