Two men, woman arrested at AFM vehicle checkpoints
Suspected stolen items recovered
Two men and a woman have been arrested after suspicious finds in their vehicles during AFM vehicle checkpoints.
The AFM in a statement issued this evening said that a 29-year-old man from Rabat and a 31-year-old woman from Mosta were arrested late yesterday after soldiers found two used syringes in their vehicle as well as a "suspiciously large amount" of new branded items including shoes, cosmetics, belts, slippers, wallets, perfumes and wrist watches. They are believed to have been stolen. Also found in the car was a large mallet, several other tools and a large calibre revolver round. A piece of cannabis resin was found on the woman.
In the second case, a 31-year old man from Sliema was observed throwing an item from his car as he approached the AFM checkpoint. A search in the area yielded two blocks of suspected cannabis resin wrapped separately in foil. The man was arrested and handed to the police at Rabat police station.
