Former Malta Song for Europe winners Mary Spiteri and Chris and Moira have failed to make it to the finals of this year's contest.

The eight finalists chosen from among 17 semi-finalists this evening were: Caravaggio, singer Claudia Faniello, composer Ray Agius, author Godwin Sant; Give Me A Chance, singer Eleanor Cassar, composer Paul Giordmaina, author Fleur Balzan; Casanova, singer Morena, composer Philip Vella, author Gerard James Borg; Love Is Just The Way, sung, composed and penned by Rosman Pace;

Go, singer Klinsmann, composed by Dominic Galea, author Claudette Pace; Vodka, singer Morena,composer Philip Vella, author Gerard James Borg; Street Car Of Desire, singer Petra Zammit, composed by Elton Zarb, author Rita Pace; and Sunrise, singer Claudia Faniello, composed and penned by Ray Agius.

The finalists were chosen by a panel of eight foreign judges. The points and placing of the finalists will not be revealed until Sunday so as not to jeopardise the outcome of the final result on Saturday. The order of performance will be decided by ballot.

The final will be decided by televoting (80 percent) and local judges (20 percent). The winner will represent Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest.

The outcome of DJs' Choice - based on the votes of DJs from local radio stations, will also be announced on Sunday. Both the semi-finals and the finals are being held at the Fairs and Convention Centre in Ta'Qali,
