I am saddened to hear of the passing away of my friend Emmanuel Fiorentino. Although I have been absent from Malta for many years, I always kept in touch by reading his reviews in The Sunday Times.

I got to know him well during my retrospective exhibition at the Museum of Fine Arts in Valletta 10 years ago. He was a very gentle and sensitive person. He was extremely knowledgeable about art in general and Maltese art in particular and a great advocate of Maltese artists.
