He was a programme producer and presenter with the Central Office of Information in London and presenter of the first live breakfast show on Rediffusion and Radio Malta. He was originator and producer of the seven-hour weekly TV programme Sibtijiet Flimkien from 1983 to 1987.

Mr Hamilton, who runs his own travel agency, has held various posts including that of chairman of the Song for Europe committee and of the International Festival of Maltese Song committee. In 1994, he was appointed programme acquisition consultant with Super 1 TV, where he hosts the chat show Bla Aġenda.

A spokesman for the World Congress of Arts, Science and Communications said the lifetime achievement is only conferred after a thorough evaluation of each candidate's qualifications, guaranteeing that every recipient is worthy of the award.
