The Malta Rugby Football Union has announced the passing away of Bojan Nikolic, 32, leaving behind a wife and son. He died of a heart attack yesterday.

"The news has come as a shock to all the rugby fraternity. He has been one of the family for several years, playing his rugby with Stompers RFC and also with the National ‘A’ side. His position was on the wing where he scored several memorable tries with his strong running, helping his team win championships and Cup honours over the past four seasons," the union said.

"Bojan was more than a friend to us all, a gentleman both on and off the pitch, he involved himself also in youth coaching with Stompers RFC and Alligators RFC Youths and this shows his commitment and love towards the game."

This Saturday all matches will go ahead as planned, however a minute’s silence will be observed. The union sent its condolences to his family.
