The Malta Transport Authority said today (Friday) that Tower Road, Sliema, will be closed to vehicular traffic and public transport from Triq Tigne' to the corner with Qui-si-Sana seafront from Wednesday January 23 until further notice, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and not as it had previously advised.
The authority yesterday had said this part of the road would be closed from Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m..
It announced the following traffic diversions:
Vehicular Traffic from Tower Road Sliematowards the Strand will be diverted to Qui-si-Sana seafront, Triq Locker, Triq Sant’ Antnin to Tigne’ seafront.
Traffic from The Strand Gzira towards Sliema will be diverted to Triq Manuel Dimech or to Triq il- Katidral
Triq il-Katidral will be closed to vehicular traffic daily between 7.45 a.m. and 8.45 a.m. and 12.30to 1.30p.m.
Traffic from The Strand Sliema in the direction of Tigne’ will remain unaffected.
Public Transport from Tower Road Sliema towards The Strandwill be diverted to Qui-si-Sana seafront, Triq Locker, Triq Sant’ Antnin and Triq ix-Xatt ta’ Tigne’.
Public Transport from The Strand Gzira in the direction towards Sliema will be diverted to Triq Manuel Dimech, Triq Guze’ Ellul Mercer , Triq Rudolf, Triq Ghar id-Dud onto Triq it-Torri.
On street parking will not be allowed between 6.30 a.m. and 4.30 pm. along:
Triq Guze’ Ellul Mercer: (First two parking bays from corner with Triq Manuel Dimech and from corner with Triq Rudolfu)Triq Rudolfu (First two parking bays from corner with Triq Guze’ Ellul Mercer)
Triq Rudolfu (From corner with Triq Amery up to corner with Triq it-Torri)
Triq Sant’ Antnin (From corner with Triq Tigne up to corner with Triq ix-Xatt ta’ Tigne’).
High Street will only be open for access to the car park, commercial outlets and for residents.
Vehicular traffic will exit High Street through Triq Ghar Lembi
