Two drug couriers were this morning jailed 23 years between them and fined a total of €47,000 after pleading guilty to conspiring to import drugs importing drugs and possession with intent to traffic.

In the first case, Enrique Martinez Burgoh, 39, from Mexico, leaded guilty to importing 1.5 kilos of cocaine with a street value of Lm57,000 (€132,774) and possession of the drug not for exclusive use on September 10,2006.

Mr Justice Joseph Galea Debono jailed him for 12 years and fined him €24,000 euros.

In the second case, Libyan Mohammid Ali Al Rahi 36 pleaded gulty to conspiracy to importing 667.3 grams of heroin and possession of the drug not for exclusive use. He was jailed for 11 years and fined €23,000.
