Luxol booked a place in the final of the women's KO competition after eliminating holders Hibs Medsea in the semi-finals. In the final, Luxol will meet Depiro who had the better of St James Hospital.
Having thrown away a 13-point lead in their league defeat to Hibs the previous week, this time Luxol overturned a 14-point deficit in the last session to force extra-time before stunning KO specialists Hibs.
Luxol enjoyed the better start as they raced into an 11-1 lead. Gradually, Hibs improved to reduce the gap to 13-8 by the end of the quarter.
Hibs maintained the momentum in the second session but after forging 16-13 ahead, they were pegged back by Luxol who went in for the break 21-20 ahead.
The Paolites regained the lead in the opening minutes of the third session, 26-23, but Luxol again bounced back to go 32-31 in front with four minutes left. After a time-out, Hibs regained control and started the last ten minutes 46-32 ahead.
With Kerstin Micallef on four fouls, former Hibs player Beverly Zammit nailed five three-pointers to spark Luxol's comeback, 54-52. Two Francesca Bianco free-throws sent the game into extra-time.
Hibs made the better start but once again, the unstoppable Zammit, who scored 32 points in all, swung the game in Luxol's favour, 65-58 the final scoreline.
Depiro met no problems on their way to beating St James Hospital 51-37. With Rachel Camilleri and Joselle Cardona in fine form, Depiro opened a 19-10 lead after the first 10 minutes.
After changing ends 34-19 ahead, Depiro eased up but were still good enough to control St James's efforts.
