A 28-year-old man was yesterday fined €1,200 (Lm515.16) and banned from entering a football stadium for three months for causing a commotion at the Juventus vs Valletta match on Wednesday.

Magistrate Doreen Clarke heard Paul Abdilla, 28, of St Julians plead guilty to using fireworks without a licence, insulting police sergeant Bernie Valletta, not obeying police orders and offending public morals.

Police inspectors Mario Tonna and Nezren Grixti prosecuted.

Lawyer Ian Farrugia was defence counsel.
