Thanks to my studies in computing and information systems, I am quite aware that in the computer world, "mouse" is actually an acronym.

That having been said, the French people refer to it as souris and they have the blessing of the more serious of dictionaries that they have. Various other European languages have recently followed suit. Hence, logic tells me that there is no valid reason why the Maltese should not refer to it as gurdien.

In spite of this, I never stated or wrote, and nor do I believe that the Maltese should refer to it as such.
